Stuart is a historic community with lots of sites such as the House of Refuge at Gilberts Bar. This is a restored home that was used as a sanctuary for shipwrecked sailors in the early 1900s.
The Heritage Museum gives you a sense of this history with displays and historic furniture from some of the early settlers.
It is also home to Sea branch Preserve Park which offers many trails and a butterfly garden. Not far from here is where you can go to the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve Park and see nesting sea turtles.
The history and unique position of Stuart gives you something more. You can get back to nature and enjoy everything that it has to offer.
