If you look beneath your sinks, you’ll notice a u-shaped pipe.  A question we get here at Plumbing Experts is what is the purpose of this P-trap?  Well, believe it or not, this invention plays an important role in preventing bad or dangerous odors from coming up through the drain, and catching solids before they get too far down into your plumbing.  However, over time, food, or gunk may build up in the P-trap and block the water from draining through the pipes correctly, and ultimately cause a leak.

Plumbing Experts was recently called to a residence in West Palm Beach, Florida where the homeowner was experiencing a leak under their kitchen sink.  As it turns out, they had flexible p-traps built into their piping, and it was causing the leak.  Our Plumber removed the old p-traps, cleaned up around the plumbing and replaced the pipes with new PVC pipes because the old ones had corroded.  Luckily our customer caught this leak in time that they did not endure damage to their cabinetry or other major damage.
