In plumbing, backflow happens when contaminated water reverses and flows into clean water lines.  The good news is that safety devices, also called “backflow devices” can be installed in order to protect the potable water supply from contamination.  They consist of a series of valves which only allow water to flow one way.

Each year, local municipalities require property owners to have these devices inspected.  Unfortunately, backflow devices can be damaged due to a variety of reasons, such as landscaping equipment bumping into them, vandalism and theft, or even just natural elements can cause them to come out of alignment.  That’s why it’s important to stay on top of testing and inspection.  As licensed Florida Contractors, this is a service we perform regularly at Plumbing Experts.

Plumbing Experts was recently called to a commercial property in Delray Beach, Florida to test and certify.  As it turned out, there was a leak in the backflow, and the plumber on the job was able to make the repairs.
